BPSA is devoting a full session at the Bicycle Leadership Conference to explain the benefits of the merger to the industry and answer questions and concerns. The BPSA membership needs to ratify the merger by a majority vote. This will take place at the BLC and by e-mail beginning April 17th.
“The BPSA has been a volunteer-Board organization protecting our supplier membership interests in safety, trade and legislative affairs for over 100 years,” noted BPSA President Adam Micklin after the vote.
“This vote to merge with PeopleForBikes while maintaining the engagement of our current BPSA Board and Executive Director is a move toward the future health and prosperity of our industry. We must have a unified effort to continue and expand our great work and to increase participation in cycling moving forward.”
“We all want the bicycle business to grow and thrive and we also want better bike rides for everyone,” said Tim Blumenthal, president of PeopleForBikes Coalition. “This merger is a logical and important step towards achieving these interconnected goals. Our industry will benefit greatly from a more powerful unified voice, additional staff and volunteer resources, and a broader base of support.”
